The kings offered the nobles land to get a contribution of soldiers for the king’s army. C- What was the lowest class of people on a manor? The lowest class of people on a manor are the peasants, also called serfs or villains. D- What was the main religion of the Middle Ages? The main religion of the Middle Ages was Christianity (a.k.a. Catholic) E- How did the Church get involved with government? The church got involved in the government by church leaders such as bishops or archbishops sat on the king’s council. The diet of the nobles is capons, geese, larks, and chicken. Those who lived near the water might dine on salmon, herring, and eels. L- Describe the diet of the peasant (serf) class? The diet of the peasants was peas, beans, bread, and pottage. M- Compare these two diets. Why do you think the serfs would have loved to visit the manor house or castle? The serfs would have loved to visit the manor house or castle because in their diet was no protein. During weddings and birthdays, the music was very uplifting. People played recorders, horns, trumpets, whistles, bells, and drums.
